Accessing Your Den's Listserv Page:

1. Open your web browser. (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge)

4. Login with your email and password.  Your password was sent in the "Welcome to the...mailing list" emailed to you when you were added to the list.

1. Log in using your administrator password. You should have received this password when the listserv was set up. If you've forgotten it, there is usually a "Lost password?" link on the login page, or you can contact the listserv administrator for assistance.

Managing Subscribers:

Once you've successfully logged in, you'll see the Mailman administration menu for your den's list. Here's how to perform common subscriber management tasks:

1. Adding a Single Subscriber:

This is useful for adding new families to your den's email list.

1. In the administration menu, click on "Membership Management".
2. On the Membership Management page, locate the section titled "Subscribe a new member".
3. In the "Email address:" field, enter the email address of the person you want to add.
4. (Optional) You can enter the subscriber's "Real name:" for better identification.
5. Important: Under "Send welcome message to new subscriber?", it's generally a good practice to leave this checked. This will send them an automated welcome email with information about the list.
6. Click the "Subscribe" button. The new subscriber will be added to the list.

2. Adding Multiple Subscribers:

If you have a list of new email addresses (e.g., from a registration form), you can add them in bulk.

1. In the administration menu, click on "Membership Management".
2. On the Membership Management page, scroll down to the section titled "Mass Subscription".
3. Enter the email addresses you want to add, one per line, in the large text box. You can also include their real names after the email address, separated by a space (e.g., This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. John Doe).
4. Under "Send welcome messages to new subscribers?", decide whether you want them to receive the welcome email.
5. Click the "Submit" button. Mailman will process the list and add the subscribers.

3. Removing a Subscriber:

When a family leaves the den or no longer needs to receive emails, it's important to remove them.

1. In the administration menu, click on "Membership Management".
2. On the Membership Management page, scroll down to the section titled "Unsubscribe or delete members".
3. In the "Email address(es) to unsubscribe:" field, enter the email address(es) you want to remove, one per line.
4. You have two options here:
   • "Just unsubscribe (user can re-subscribe later)": This removes them from the list, but they can choose to subscribe again in the future. This is generally the preferred option.
   • "Also banish (user cannot re-subscribe)": This not only unsubscribes them but also prevents them from subscribing again through the web interface. Use this option with caution.
5. Click the "Unsubscribe" or "Unsubscribe and banish" button, depending on your choice.

4. Finding a Subscriber:

If you need to check if someone is subscribed or manage their settings, you can search for them.

1. In the administration menu, click on "Membership List".
2. On the Membership List page, you'll see a list of all current subscribers. You can use your browser's "Find" function (usually Ctrl+F or Cmd+F) to search for a specific email address or name.
3. Alternatively, you might see a search box or filtering options on this page, depending on the Mailman version. Use these to locate the subscriber you're looking for.
4. Once you find the subscriber, you can click on their email address to view and modify their individual subscription settings (e.g., digest mode, email delivery options). It's generally best to leave these settings as they are unless specifically requested by the subscriber.

Important Considerations:

• Privacy: Always be mindful of the privacy of your subscribers' email addresses. Do not share the entire subscriber list with individuals outside of necessary Pack leadership.
• Welcome Messages: The welcome message usually contains important information about the list, such as how to unsubscribe and posting guidelines. Ensure new members receive this.
• Communication: If you make significant changes to the list, it's a good idea to inform the den members beforehand.
• Troubleshooting: If you encounter any issues or have questions beyond this guide, please reach out to the Pack leadership or the designated listserv administrator for assistance.
• Regular Review: Periodically review your subscriber list to ensure it's accurate and remove any outdated or inactive email addresses.
