To join our pack, families pay the required national membership fee (currently $85 per year), and a one-time joining fee may also apply for new Scouts. There are no additional pack dues—our annual popcorn fundraiser covers the cost of awards, activities, and most events throughout the year.

Other costs to consider include the Scout uniform, as well as an optional (but recommended) subscription to Scout Life magazine for $15 per year.

Scouts wear the official Cub Scout uniform for their grade level. You can purchase uniforms at the local Scout Shop or online. We’ll provide guidance on what’s needed.

Our Cub Scout program offers a hands-on, family-oriented experience filled with adventure and learning! Scouts enjoy camping, hiking, and fishing, develop engineering skills building Pinewood Derby cars, contribute to the community through service projects, and gain valuable new skills. We also create lasting memories with exciting events like the Stock Show and local sporting events, ensuring a fun and engaging experience for the whole family.

Any child in Kindergarten through 5th grade (ages 5–10) can join Cub Scouts, regardless of gender, background, or experience. We welcome all families in the Lakewood area!

Yes, absolutely! Cub Scouts is a program for all children, and girls are fully integrated into our dens and packs. This inclusive approach allows more families to experience the fun, adventure, and character-building benefits of Scouting together. Girls participate in all the same exciting activities as boys, including camping, hiking, building Pinewood Derby cars, learning new skills, and engaging in community service. We believe that by welcoming everyone, we strengthen our pack and provide a richer, more diverse experience for all Scouts.

Yes! Cub Scouting is a family program. Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend meetings, help with activities, and support their Scout’s journey. Many parents become leaders or volunteers.

Pack meetings are typically held on the 4th Tuesday every month at Our Saviour's Corner of Hope( 1975 S Garrison St, Lakewood, CO 80227 ). Dens (smaller grade-based groups) meet 1–2 times per month, usually in the evenings or weekends. Check with your den leader or the calendar for details.

Not at all! While having personal gear can enhance your Scout's experience, you certainly don't need to purchase everything new right away. Our pack often has resources like shared equipment, and we encourage families to borrow from friends or utilize existing items they might already own. Many essential camping items can be found affordably, and we often have uniform exchanges where gently used items are available. The most important thing is to participate and enjoy the adventure, not to have the newest or most expensive gear. We're committed to making Scouting accessible, and your den leaders can provide guidance on what's truly essential and how to acquire it without breaking the bank.

Most, if not all, of our events are paid for through the funds we raise during our annual popcorn fundraiser. Thanks to everyone’s participation, the majority of activities are covered for Scouts and usually for one accompanying parent as well. In many cases, both parents and all Scouts in a family can attend at no cost. For a few special events, there may be exceptions, but we do our best to keep Scouting affordable and accessible for everyone. If you have questions about a specific event, just ask—we’re happy to help!

While you can certainly enjoy many activities with your child independently, Cub Scouts offers a unique and invaluable experience that goes beyond what most families can achieve on their own. Through Cub Scouts, your child gains:

Think of our Cub Scout Pack as a big, friendly team with different parts working together!

At the top, we have the Pack itself – that's everyone! All the Cub Scouts, their families, and our leaders come together once a month for exciting Pack meetings and big events like the Pinewood Derby or camping trips.

Within the Pack, the kids are divided into smaller groups called Dens. Your child will be in a Den with other Scouts who are in the same grade. Dens usually meet a couple of times a month to work on specific adventures, learn new skills, and earn awards that are just right for their age.

Leading these groups are our amazing volunteer leaders, who are often parents just like you! They guide the Dens and the Pack, making sure everything is fun, safe, and educational.

So, in short:

• The Pack is the whole group, meeting monthly for big fun.

• Dens are smaller, age-based groups that meet more frequently for specific activities.

• Leaders are volunteers who make it all happen!

A Den is a small group of Cub Scouts who are in the same grade at school. Each Den works together on activities and adventures that are just right for their age. Here’s how it works:

• Kindergarten: Lion Den

• 1st Grade: Tiger Den

• 2nd Grade: Wolf Den

• 3rd Grade: Bear Den

• 4th Grade: Webelos Den

• 5th Grade: Arrow of Light Den

Your child will join the Den that matches their current grade. Dens meet separately from the whole Pack to do fun, age-appropriate activities and learn new skills together.
