Our amazing Scouts sold over $35,000 worth of popcorn in 2021 - great job!
All the activities, events, camping trips, and advancement loops for our pack are funded by popcorn sales. When you and your Scout commit to selling Trail's End popcorn, you demonstrate dedication to our pack and to the mission of Scouting.
Participating in Popcorn Sales:
Teaches Scouts the value and process of setting and working toward goals
Gives Scouts a strong sense of accomplishment through recognition
Enhances a Scout's communication, leadership skills, and confidence
Commissions:
Around 70% of the popcorn sales price goes back to local Scouting - 38% to our Pack and the remainder to the Denver Area Council. We use our funds to support programming and fun activities, and the Council uses theirs to maintain facilities like Peaceful Valley Scout Camp and to provide district-wide program.
So, for a $20 bag of popcorn, more than $14 is returned to Scouts, including $7.60 to our Pack. It adds up quickly!
STOREFRONT SALES
Storefront sales at local businesses make up a big part of our popcorn program.
Different Scouts work at the table in shifts with adult supervision.
We will have Show and Sells scheduled every Saturday and Sunday in September with locations to be determined. Sign up for a shift through the Trails End app.
One parent from the first shift will need to pick up popcorn and supplies from the popcorn kernel; one parent from the closing shift will need to return it.
TRAILS END APP:
Download the Trail’s End app to manage your sales and sign up for storefront shifts. Use it for door-to-door sales so you can accept credit cards for wagon sales – with no fee!
This year we will not be ordering a large inventory of popcorn to take door-to-door.
Wagon Sales
The Scout, dressed in full uniform, goes door to door in his neighborhood with his Akela, or calls/Facetimes with family and friends.
The Scout carries a Trail's End Popcorn order form and shows the customer the different popcorn options.
Customers can either order popcorn to be delivered by the Scout or through Online Direct. NOTE: there are some products ONLY available through Online Direct, including some past best-sellers.
The Scout/Akela uses the Trails End app to record each purchase, taking credit cards through the app.
Cash and checks are to be turned in on or before October 20.
Selling at Work
Mom and/or Dad take an order form or popcorn products to their work (or the Scout visits the office if the organization allows it).
Co-workers write their order on the order form or purchase product.
Mom and/or Dad deliver product and collect money before October 24. If a paper order form is used, sales are entered after the fact in the app as a Wagon Sale.
Selling Online
With his Akela, the Scout sets up his online sales page at Trails-end.com, then sends the link out via social media, email, etc.
The product is shipped directly from Trail’s End to the customer; the Scout and Unit automatically receive credit for the sale.
Prizes and Rewards:
Earn Amazon Gift Cards based on the amount sold (beginning at $400). Learn more about the program in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fq3pby76NCU&t=2s
